If these are understood then it would be easy to appreciate that what the U.S. is doing is TOTALLY STUPID and in fact is helping China while they’re catching up.

So the U.S. is banning NVIDIA and AMD from selling to China. This allows Chinese GPU makers to catch up while still able to sell their less than latest chips and supplanting Nvidia in China. These actions are killing off American companies. So Huawei can’t get the latest chips. They have their 5G technology in place with more business that they can handle while advancing with 6G. American tech companies do not such latitude of options.

Note that China is also the world’s largest producers of chips and the high end chips take up only about 6% of this market. And that China’s SMIC overtook Intel with its 7 nm chip without use of the EUV machine. So be it 2 years or 8 years for China to catch up in the process U.S. actions are starving the industry players of their needed capital - e.g. AMSL won’t be able to do R&D to come up with their next EUV generation Litho machines. So much better for China.

The technological bans and restrictions to China are to stop what is unstoppable: that China displaces the USA as the first world power. Problem is they can’t.

The problem is that what the USA does in its world domination obsession when they restrict is to force the Chinese to develop their own technology. It may take one year or two at the current pace China is moving but they will do it.
